Westlife's Nicky Byrne fails to get Ireland through to Eurovision final

Westlife's Nicky Byrne has failed to get Ireland into the Eurovision Song Contest final.

The former boy band star didn't make it into the top 10 with his song Sunlight.

Successful countries were Latvia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Australia, Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, Israel, Lithuania and Belgium.

The UK's place in the final is assured because they are from one of the "big five" - the countries that founded the competition.

Former Voice contestants Joe and Jake will be flying the flag for Britain on Saturday night with their song You're Not Alone.

Other Eurovision hopefuls going home disappointed were Denmark, Switzerland, Belarus, Macedonia, Slovenia, Norway and Albania.

Ireland is the most successful country in the contest, with a total of seven wins.
