A man in a panda onesie has been shot after allegedly making a bomb threat against a television station.

Baltimore police confirmed that the man, who has not been identified, was shot by officers outside the building of Fox Television's Baltimore affiliate after he broke in and demanded they "cover a story".

Police spokesman T.J. Smith said: "He displayed something that appeared to be wires and some other things inside his jacket that appeared to be some kind of explosive device."

In pictures taken immediately after the shooting the suspect can be seen lying on the floor wearing a white, one-piece panda suit with a surgical mask as a robot checks him for any explosives.

According to the television station, WBFF, the man demanded a piece be run on "a story about some sort of government conspiracy" which he compared "to the information found in the Panama Papers"
