Ohio family shooting: What we know so far

US authorities are searching for a gunman who killed eight members of one family in Pike County in Ohio in what police describe as an "execution-style" killing.

Here is what we know so far:

  • Seven adults and a 16-year-old boy were found dead from gunshot wounds to the head.

  • Deputies from the Pike County sheriff''s office found the bodies in four separate locations with several miles between each of the crime scenes.

  • The crime scenes are within 30 miles of each other.

  • Those killed are all members of the Rhoden family, prompting the authorities to assign officers to protect other members of the family.

  • Three children - a three-year-old, a six-month-old and four-day-old - survived the massacre and were removed from the homes.

  • One of the victims, a mother, was found killed in her bed, with her four-day-old lying next to her.

  • Police warn the killer or killers are still at large.
