Prince: A look back at his most memorable performances

Prince, one of the best-selling artists of all time, performed alongside some more of music's best-known names throughout his 40-year career.

The seven-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, who released numerous studio and live albums, died on Thursday aged 57 at his home in Minneapolis.

Here is a look back on some of Prince's most memorable performances:

  • 2004: Prince performs "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" alongside Travelling Wilburys in honour of former bandmate and Beatle George Harrison

  • 2007: Prince performs "Purple Rain" during soaking conditions at Super Bowl XLI.

  • 2004: Prince and Beyond perform at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

  • 1999: Prince and Lenny Kravitz perform "American Woman".

  • 1983: Prince, Michael Jackson and James Brown perform together

  • 1982: Prince performs live at the Capitol Theatre in New Jersey.
