Chyna: Legendary WWE wrestler found dead aged 45

Professional wrestler Chyna has been found dead aged 45.

The World Wrestling Entertainment legend, whose real name is Joanie Laurer, was "found lying peacefully" on her bed, her manager said.

Dubbed the "The Ninth Wonder of the World", Chyna was an iconic figure in the industry in the late 1990s.

She was a member of D-Generation X and often competed against men and at one point was the WWE women's champion.

WWE said it was "saddened" to learn of the death of a "wildly talented performer".

Chyna's management team said the world had "lost a true icon".

Tributes from across the wrestling industry paid tribute to the star after her death was confirmed.

She joins a long list of WWE wrestlers who have died relatively young, including Eddie Guerrero, Rick Rude, the Ultimate Warrior and Owen Hart.

After leaving WWE in 2001, Laurer posed for Playboy and appeared on reality TV in shows such as The Surreal Life and Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew.
