John Cleese vents fury over stay at place he claims is 'not a hotel' but 'a construction site'
Comedian John Cleese has vented his fury over the alleged standard of accommodation he was confronted with during a recent hotel stay by likening his visit to being on "a construction site".
The 76-year-old actor, who is famous for playing irate hotelier Basil Fawlty, was clearly unimpressed by his stay at the Swedish hotel and promptly took to Twitter to name and shame them.
In pictures shared by Cleese tins of paint and sheets appear to be strewn on the floor in the hotel's corridor and a temporary ceiling panel covering appears to be hanging off.
Stating it was "not a hotel" but "a construction site", Cleese shared a series of tweets with pictures taken by him at the Elite Hotel group's Linkoping branch as well as pointing out the stark contrast to the "excellent" accommodation provided by one of its sister hotels.
No official statement has been released by the hotel following Cleese's tweets.
