NHS choir signs with same record label as Justin Bieber

The NHS Choir has signed a deal with the same record label as Justin Bieber - months after beating the Canadian pop star to Christmas number one.

Bieber urged his fans to "do the right thing" and help the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir reach number one with their charity single A Bridge Over You.

After the success of the song, the choir, which is made up of 30 NHS workers, have been signed to Decca Records who will release their debut album.

The album, titled Something Inside So Strong and due for release in May, is described as being "a collection of uplifting classics from those at the heart of the NHS".

It will feature well-known songs such as:

  • Bill Withers's Lean On Me

  • Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud

  • Carole King's You've Got a Friend

It will also be a celebration to mark the 70th anniversary of the passing of the NHS Act of July 1946.

Royalties will be paid into the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and will be used to provide services that "enhance patient experience or staff working lives".
