Zuma failed to 'respect' constitution over state-funded upgrade to home
Video report by ITV News Africa Correspondent John Ray
South African President Jacob Zuma failed to "uphold, defend andrespect" the constitution when he ignored the instructions of an anti-corruption watchdog to repay some of the $16m (£11m) spent on his privatehome, the country's top court has ruled.
The improvements are said to have included a swimming pool, cattle enclosure and amphitheatre.
Mr Zuma has been ordered to personally pay back the money within 45 days, as well as additional court costs.
The ruling by the Constitutional Court is the latest twist in a six-year saga that has damaged Mr Zuma politically.
It is also seen as a vindication for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela after the court said the role was a "most valuable gift" in fight against corruption.
South Africa's opposition leader Mmusi Maimane has called for Mr Zuma to be removed from office with "immediate effect".
