Vernon Kay has responded to claims he sent flirty texts to a glamour model he was first linked to in 2010, telling fans there was "no inappropriate intent" behind the messages.

The 41-year-old presenter, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, broke his silence after newspaper reports claimed he had recently contacted Rhian Sugden.

Kay apologised publicly to his wife and two daughters in 2010, after he had been caught "sexting" Sugden, 29.

At the time he said he had made "foolish and stupid decisions."

Today the All Star Family Fortunes presenter addressed a report in The Sun that said he and Sugden had reconnected before Christmas and had planned a hotel meet-up.

Kay said that his wife was aware of his messages with Sugden and "there was never any inappropriate intent to our communication."
