British tourist dies after being stabbed in robbery caught on CCTV

A British tourist who was stabbed in the head during a robbery has died in hospital more than a month after the attack in San Francisco.

Paul Tam, from Manchester, was walking with his niece when they were approached by two robbers on February 18.

Dramatic CCTV footage released by police showed the 44 year old being chased into the street and around a car before being stabbed on the ground.

Mr Tam was reportedly trying to prevent the armed robber from taking his bag, which contained personal items.

The male and female suspects fled the scene following the attack, in which Mr Tam's niece was not injured.

Mr Tam was taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment, but has now died from his injuries.

The San Francisco Police Department said in a statement: "During the course of the robbery, the male victim was attacked with a weapon. The two robbery suspects fled the scene on foot.

"On Thursday, March 24, 2016, the victim succumbed to his injuries and died. The victim was a 44-year-old man who was a tourist from the United Kingdom."

No one has been arrested in connection with the murder.

The suspects were described as a black man, around 5ft 10in tall with a heavy build last seen wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans, and a black woman around 5ft 4in with long dreadlocks or braids up in a ponytail.
