Eric Dier's last-gasp winner in world champions Germany's backyard understandably ranks as a career highlight, but the defensive midfielder and his England team-mates are not getting carried away.

The old foes have fought out many memorable matches over the years and Saturday's friendly at the Olympiastadion was another.

An impressive display by Roy Hodgson's men looked set to end in defeat as Toni Kroos' strike late in the first half was followed by a brilliant Mario Gomez header.

However, fine goals from Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy were added to in stoppage-time by Dier, who marked his third England appearance by securing a 3-2 win in Berlin.

"That is one of the best feelings I've felt in football so far," said Dier, one of four Tottenham players in the starting line-up.

"It was amazing. To be able to score for England is great, let alone here in Germany.

"It was fantastic. And to do it with all my mates from Spurs was even better.

"I feel comfortable in the team, but it's not just down to the Tottenham players. Obviously that helps, but all the boys make everyone feel very comfortable and it's a young team in general with lots of energy and optimism.

"It's not just the Spurs lads, there's a lot of lads in there who play with the same aggression and optimism we do.

"It's always better to win than to lose and that's always more optimistic, but we have to keep our feet grounded.

"It was a great win, but it's a friendly and there will a lot harder tests to come and we have to keep working."
