Two arrested after girl dies in bouncy castle accident

Two people have been arrested after a young girl was killed when the bouncy castle she was playing on blew away in high winds in Harlow, Essex.

Essex Police said the pair, a 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, had been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence.

The girl is believed to have been about seven years old.

She was taken to hospital, but died of her injuries, according to the Harlow Star newspaper.

Two ambulance crews from the East of England Ambulance Service and a HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) air ambulance were dispatched to the scene, the paper reported.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Our thoughts are with the friends and family involved on this sad day."

A spokeswoman for the Health and Safety Executive said it was assisting police.

Wind speeds in the area were recorded at between 20-25mph on Saturday, according to Weather.com.
