A British-born woman, who had a child through IVF, has married her anonymous sperm donor after she tracked him down online and they later fell in love.

Aminah Hart, from Melbourne, Australia, met Scott Andersen in 2013, a year after she had given birth to their daughter Leila.

She had decided to go through IVF following the tragic loss of two sons, Marlon and Louis, at 14 weeks and 14 months respectively.

The boys had suffered from a rare genetic disorder called x-linked myotubular myopathy.

Aminah had originally selected Scott Andersen from several possible donors because he stood out. Leila was then born on August 14, 2012.

Her mother later helped her tracked him down and there was an instant rapport between the pair. One year later, Scott proposed on her late son Louis' birthday

"It is incredibly random that two people who wouldn't have met under different circumstances were brought together through a child that was created through sperm donation", Aminah told Daily Mail Australia.

The couple had a "very low key" wedding in front of their closest friends and family and Scott thanked his mother-in-law for bringing them together in an "emotional" speech.

"My mum has been the wind in my sails when I thought the boat was going to capsize and in the end she helped bring me to Scott,", Aminah said.

She has also written a book about their unexpected love story, "How I Met Your Father".
