Paris attack suspect Salah Abdeslam 'did not know about Brussels attacks'
Salah Abdeslam, the main suspect in the Paris terror attacks which killed 130 people, "was not aware" of the Brussels terror plot which targeted the airport and the Metro, according to his lawyer.
Abdeslam was arrested last Friday, three days before the attacks which killed 31 people and injured 300.
Sven Mary also said his client wants to return to France "as soon as possible to explain himself".
Court proceedings against Abdeslam began in Brussels today, and he was expected to fight extradition proceedings but has now reportedly changed his mind.
Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said last week that at worst it could take three months for Abdeslam to be handed over if he battled extradition.
Abdeslam is due in court again in Brussels on March 31 for the execution of a European arrest warrant issued by France.
