'What I'd like to see from the Budget'

Ahead of Chancellor George Osborne's 2016 Budget, ITV News asked people what changes they would like to see and how they might be affected by changes to the nation's public finances.

Vickie Walker is a single mum of two children who works part-time as a cleaner for 16 hours a week. She receives family tax credits and working tax credits so is hoping she is not affected by any cuts to benefits. She said she would like to work more hours but the cost of childcare makes it difficult.

  • Dave Fish, 35, from Ashington

Finance director Dave Fish is a higher rate taxpayer and would therefore benefit from a tax cut if the current 40% threshold is reduced. He is married and has two young children. He has a buy-to-let property with a mortgage so hopes George Osborne doesn't crack down on landlord taxes again.

Graduated two years ago, Janelle Kinsey is saddled with thousands of pounds of student debt. She works in marketing and would welcome an increase to the tax-free allowance. She said she is unable to afford a pension because the little she can save goes into a help-to-buy ISA and paying off her university debts. She drives a lot for work and to see family so would be affected by a change in fuel duty.

Ken Scott, a survival instructor who is keen to retire now but says he can't afford to, is angry that the pension age keeps being moved. He has recently opted out of paying into his pension because he thinks the system is confusing and would prefer to invest his money in other ways.
