Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington splits from husband after just 18 months of marriage

Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington has separated from her husband Harry Needs after just 18 months of marriage.

In a statement on her official website, the 27-year-old athlete said the split had been "amicable" and that they "remain close friends".

Adlington married fellow swimmer Needs, 24, in 2014 and gave birth to their daughter Summer, now nine months old, last year.

They moved to live in Stockport after the wedding.
