Cameras capture gun ambush attack on London street

Footage of a dramatic ambush shooting after a chase along a London street has been released by police as they appeal for witnesses of the crime.

Three CCTV cameras captured elements of the evening attack on a main road in Tulse Hill near Brixton last month.

The first camera filmed the moment a 20-year-old man and two friends were targeted by a gunman who jumped off the back of a moped driven by an accomplice.

The three men are seen sprinting away while being chased by the gunman in a full face crash helmet.

Another camera shows the trio heading round a shop corner seconds before the gunman, who arrives to take aim at the spot before firing off two shots and then running back to the moped.

The 20-year-old victim was shot in the upper right thigh but no one else was injured.

He was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital for treatment and was released the next day.

Police said the pair on the moped rode off towards Norwood after the attack.

The Met's Trident and Area Crime Command said the suspect who fired the shots was seen wearing a black, full face helmet with white flashings and dark trousers with white stripes on the leg.

The moped rider was described as wearing a light coloured helmet.
