Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge go on sale: Key features

The latest phone offerings from Samsung have officially gone on sale this morning in what was tipped as one of the most hotly-anticipated smartphone launches of the year.

Here are some of the key features that you need to know about the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

  • Slimmer design

Samsung have proudly announced that the two new phones will "give you the slimmest feel in your hand without compromising the big screen size" but how do the rest of the stats add up?

According to the product website the phones also have a seamless and strong unibody thanks to being made through a process called 3D Thermoforming which involves melting 3D glass to curve it.

  • Water and dust resistant

A key selling point of the new phones is the company's claim that it "can be immersed in 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes" without breakage meaning you "can carry on using it even after dropping it in water".

  • Dual Pixel camera for low light use

According to Samsung the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge both benefit from "a professional-grade Dual Pixel Sensor" which allows users to take clearer pictures in the dark

  • Battery life

Samsung have said the phones will last for 13 hours while playing non-stop video content - meaning more time to play games and catch up on TV programmes for users.

  • Hardware

Both phones has 4GB of RAM and additional storage can be added via a microSD.
