Canadian singer Bryan Adams has hit out at Egyptian customs officials after they defaced his guitar with green pen.

The 'I Do It For You' singer was so angry at discovering the marks on the vintage instrument that he posted a picture of the damage on Instagram with the message: "airport customs graffiti on my 1957 Martin D-18 from Egypt".

And it appears that the singer will 'Never Let Go' of the hurt caused by the "silly" damage.

Adams told NBC News: "The problem is, it's a vintage guitar [from] 1957 and the outside of old instrument is fragile."

Communicating through his official Facebook page he added that it wasn't just the guitar that bore the brunt of the over-zealousness of Cairo Airport officials as he revealed that all the instruments he was travelling with "were all marked — even my harmonicas!"

According to source at the airport, who spoke to NBC News, the incident was "nothing new, the system is the same" as all items are marked when they enter the country so officials can be sure the same items are the ones leaving the country on departure.
