Dunblane survivor: 'I haven't let gunman ruin my life'
A survivor of the Dunblane massacre has said she hasn't let the gunman who put her through the horrific childhood ordeal ruin her life as she recalled the shooting ahead of the 20th anniversary of the tragedy.
Aimie Adam was just five when shooter Thomas Hamilton opened fire in the gym hall of her primary school, killing 16 fellow students and a teacher before turning the gun on himself.
The 25-year-old herself was shot twice and had to spend time in a wheelchair after one bullet struck her in the right buttock and another shattered her right thigh.
Speaking to Scottish Sun on Sunday she explained that she doesn't remember feeling any pain but can recall a "weird metallic taste" in her mouth and "a fuzzy tingly feeling" all over my body after she was shot.
She said: "You'd think you'd remember something so dramatic but I can't. It's probably a good thing."
But as the anniversary of the tragic shooting approaches Aimie had one clear message for the now deceased gunman and that is that she won't let him have the satisfaction of ruining her life as although she is "still living with the devastation" of it "nobody got to choose that day".
