Adam Johnson facing jail alongside child killers Ian Huntley and Levi Bellfield
Adam Johnson is facing a prison sentence in the same jail as notorious child killers Ian Huntley and Levi Bellfield.
The disgraced ex-Sunderland winger is tipped for high-security Frankland prison, which also houses some of the country's most dangerous sex offenders and murderers.
One of the country's toughest jails, HMP Frankland in Durham houses 808 category A and B prisoners serving four years or more.
It is also near the sacked 28-year-old's family.
After being convicted for grooming and two counts of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, Johnson was warned that a jail sentence is "almost inevitable."
The starting point for his offending is five years.
A former Frankland inmate reveals what can Johnson expect:
A favourable wing - "where he doesn't mix with the general population"
Vulnerable prisoner status - the nature of his crimes will make him a target inside
New friends - "Money goes a long way. People will be trying to be his friend"
Football practice - Frankland has five-a-side pitches, one inside and a smaller one outside
Newcastle fans - Sunderland supporting prisoners may continue to laud him, but rival Newcastle United fans inside "are going to be pushing his buttons"
