Laser directed at aircraft's cockpit during descent into Liverpool John Lennon Airport
A laser light was shone towards the cockpit of an aircraft as it came into land at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Police say the plane was targeted with a laser pen that emitted a green light over the Runcorn aread of Liverpool at 9.30pm on Wednesday but landed safely.
Inspector Mike Evans, of Cheshire Police, said:
Laser-attacks on commercial and emergency service aircraft have increased in recent years.
Around 9,000 laser incidents were reported to the UK Civil Aviation Authority over the past six years - an average of 1,500 incidents each year.
