Fires break out at Calais 'Jungle' camp as demolition continues
More shelters have been destroyed after fires broke out at the 'Jungle' migrant camp in Calais overnight.
French riot police were called to stand guard as firefighters tackled the flames, which engulfed two of the makeshift homes.
It was not immediately clear how the fires were started.
It comes after clashes between migrants and refugees at the camp earlier in the week as work began to clear part of the shanty town set up near the port city on France's northern coast.
Police fired tear gas as migrants and activists threw stones and set three makeshift shelters alight.
The demolition was ordered after a judge last week upheld a government order to evict migrants living in part of the camp, though a few "socially important" buildings - including a school and a theatre - were allowed to remain.
An estimated 4,000 people trying to reach Britain are camped at Calais.
