The Rolling Stones announce 'landmark' free concert in Havana, Cuba

International superstars The Rolling Stones will become the first British band to play an open air concert in Cuba.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts will play a free concert at Havana's Ciudad Deportiva de la Habana on 25 March.In a statement, The Rolling Stones said:

The rock show will come only days after US President Barack Obama's recently announced a visit to Cuba.

The band are heading an initiative in which musical instruments and equipment are being donated by major suppliers for the benefit of Cuban musicians of all genres, the rockers say on their website.

Donors include The Gibson Foundation, Vic Firth, Zildjian, Latin Percussion, Roland and Boss, with additional assistance from the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation.

The Rolling Stones are currently on tour in South America for their America Latina Ole tour.They have played to huge audiences in cities including Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro, with Lima, Bogota and Mexico City following next week.
