One Direction star Liam Payne appears to have confirmed he is in a relationship with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini on Instagram.

The 22-year-old singer updated his profile picture on the social network to a snap of the pair - Liam posing bare-chested alongside Cheryl who is making a "peace" sign with her hand.

Almost nine million people follow the account, where the bio now simply reads "Happy."

Reports in recent weeks have suggested the 32-year-old singer and X Factor judge is in a relationship with the global teen idol.

Cheryl is currently going through a divorce from her second husband Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, 35.
