Stars pay tribute to David Bowie at Brit Awards
Stars paid tribute to music icon David Bowie at this year's Brits as he was posthumously awarded an Icon Award.
The Life On Mars singer, who died on January 10 after a private battle with liver cancer, was hailed as "truly unique" and "a quintessential visionary" as Eurythmics frontwoman Annie Lennox paid an emotional tribute to the star during the show as she presented his award.
Gary Oldman, a close friend of the Bowie family, described his friend as "the very definition, the living embodiment of that singular word icon" and hailed his contribution to music as he accepted the award on the star's behalf.
Lennox and Oldman were not the only ones to take time to remember Bowie at the star-studded event though, as singer Lorde channeled Bowie's 'Thin White Duke' and took to the stage to perform 'Life on Mars'.

Following the performance Bowie's son Duncan Jones tweeted a message of thanks to everyone involved in paying homage to his father, describing the performances as "beautiful".
