This can all be traced back to a Mars factory at Veghel in the Netherlands.

It Is thought that somehow, despite all the quality control and hygiene precautions, a small piece of plastic got into a product.

What I've been told is that on 8 February, a consumer in Germany discovered red plastic in a Snickers bar.

Although there was no injury, from that single incident all this has flowed.

I have also had it confirmed that no plastic contamination has been reported in the UK.
