Beth Tweddle expects to leave hospital after injuring herself on The Jump

Britain's most successful gymnast Beth Tweddle is being discharged from hospital today after injuring herself during training for TV reality show 'The Jump'.

Tweddle, 30, had neck surgery to fuse together two fractured vertebrae in her neck after crashing while preparing for the Channel 4 show last Saturday.

The three-time world gymnastics champion and London 2012 bronze medallist began walking with assistance after a few days and is now walking by herself.

She tweeted: "Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know the good news that I am being discharged from hospital today."

Tweddle was the third star to be hospitalised in this year's competition.

Fellow Olympian Rebecca Adlington and Holby City actress Tina Hobley have also been hospitalised during this year's competition - one with a dislocated shoulder and the other after being badly injured in the ski-jump landing area.
