Bedlington Terrier 'repeatedly kicked to within inch of its life' by burglars who broke into family home
A family pet was repeatedly kicked to within an inch of its life by burglars who broke into a home, police have said.
18-month-old Bedlington Terrier Mila was found cowering in a bush in the back garden unable to walk by her owners who returned to find the back door of their home in Halesowen, West Midlands, had been forced open.
Vets found the family pet had been repeatedly kicked in the head and suffered neurological nerve damage which means she cannot place her two front feet on the ground.
West Midlands Police said nothing was taken from the house by the burglars.
Owner Julie Green, 51, said: “I’m just shocked and heartbroken that someone could do this to Mila. Whoever is responsible is heartless.
“She is the friendliest dog and would greet anyone; even though she is poorly today she has been trying to roll over and wag her tail.”
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information on the break-in, which happened between 6pm and 7.30pm on Thursday night, to contact them.
