Prince Harry meets flood victims - but not everyone is impressed with his attire

Prince Harry has visited flood-hit regions left devastated by the recent storms - but not everyone was impressed with his choice of attire.

The royal wore jeans and a blue hoodie when he met soldiers and school children in Lancashire - one of the worst affected areas.

But youngsters from Weeton Primary School in Preston said they expected the prince to have been dressed a bit smarter.

One pupil said: "I thought he'd be wearing a tie and that."

While 10-year-old Kian Wright said of the prince: "I thought he would be in a tuxedo."

Asked if they were surprised Harry was wearing jeans, they nodded and said: "Yes."

And that wasn't all poor 30-year-old Harry came under fire for - as some of the children said they thought he would be "more handsome".

But pupil Laura Lewis disagreed and said: "I thought he was charming - I was going to wink at him."

There was also a Harry look-a-like in the crowd in the form of young Harrison.

Asked what he thought of the prince, he said: "He's got lots of medals and he's really good at fighting. He's really cool."

Harrison said sometimes people said he looked like the royal and added: "But not a lot a lot of people."

Harry also visited Weeton Barracks, near where the school is based, to thank soldiers who missed their Christmas to help with the flood efforts.

He said it was a "great opportunity" to meet them, adding: "It's been an emotional month for you."

Many residents were evacuated from their homes and businesses, which were left underwater following the deluge of water from storms Desmond, Eva, Frank and Gertrude.

The Prince heard that the troops worked tirelessly as they went from door to door to check on residents and support the recovery work.
