Union J's George Shelley reveals he is bisexual
I'm A Celebrity star George Shelley has revealed he is bisexual in a video posted on YouTube.
The Union J singer said he has had both girlfriends and boyfriends in the past but was now: "Less scared of being myself."
In the one minute 30 second clip, which has now been viewed over 20,000 times, the 22-year-old said he had "been on a personal journey".
"And I want you to be a part of that journey from now on," he told fans.
George said he was making the confession as he "wanted to start 2016 with a clean slate".
"I went into the jungle and it gave me a lot of time to reflect on what's important to me.
"And what is important to me is I can be myself and that I don't feel I should have to hide anything.
"So, here it is. I've been reading a lot of speculation online as to whether I'm straight, or gay, or bi. All these labels.
"It's all a little bit old fashioned, and that's why I'm not going to label it myself, because it's not something I feel I can label."
He went on: "I've had girlfriends that I've loved and that's been an amazing experience in my life. But I've also had boyfriends.
"And I want you to know that whether I decide to be with a girl next, or be with a boy next, it's because I love them.
"It shouldn't be a big deal and I don't want to make a big thing about it when it happens. And I don't want to be scared anymore."
Smiling, George added: "I've not changed. I'm still me. I'm just a little bit less scared of being myself. And that makes me quite happy."
George's friends and I'm A Celebrity co-stars were quick to show their support.
His jungle 'love interest' Ferne McCann posted a snap of her and George on Instagram.
She captioned it with: "Feeling very proud of my lil jungle fwend today.
"Happiness is letting go of what you think life is supposed to look like and celebrating it for everything that it is. I love you bubs."
I'm A Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison tweeted: "I have never been prouder of my amazing friend George Shelley.
"No matter who you love my darlin, we will always love you - you brave human."
George's Union J bandmates also took to Twitter to post messages of support.
In a message to fans, Jaymi Hensley posted: "Obviously your support for George is very close to my heart! I couldn't be prouder of how he has shown such strength recently.
"And you have never judged me because of who I choose to love so please show him the same love you showed me! Very proud."
His other bandmates Josh Cuthbert and JJ Hamblet added how proud they also were of him.
