Frank Bruno plots sensational return to boxing
Frank Bruno has revealed that he is planning for an unlikely return to the boxing ring.
Speaking to ITV's This Morning show, the 1995 WBC heavyweight title winner said that he is training in preparation for what would be a surprise comeback after a 20-year absence from the sport.
"I've been in the gym all the time, that's why I want to come back into boxing," Bruno said. "I'm going back into boxing as well."
Asked whether that would be a good idea, the 54-year-old continued: "I haven't got a choice. I train every day.
"I can't sit down and let these so-called promoters say Anthony Joshua can knock me out in two rounds when I'm not even dead."
Any return for Bruno, who was pictured training with Ricky Hatton last week, would be contingent upon a licence from the British Boxing Board of Control. Bruno has suffered from health problems in recent years, having been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003.
