Camelot says £33m lotto winner has been found
The winner of a £33m Lotto jackpot has finally come forward to claim the prize, lottery operator Camelot said today.
Camelot said it had received a valid claim from a holder of the multimillion winning ticket bought in Worcester, but they have chosen to remain anonymous.
The record lottery jackpot of just over £66 million was shared between two winners.
Half went to David and Carol Martin, from Hawick in the Scottish Borders, who said that they hoped to use some of their new riches to help the victims of flooding in their area.
However, the second winner remained a mystery for more than a fortnight, prompting feverish speculation.
Camelot said it had been investigating hundreds of claims of lost, damaged or stolen tickets in Worcester.
Among the attempted claimants was grandmother Susanne Hinte, who said her ticket was damaged in a washing machine.
A spokesman for the National Lottery said they were "delighted" that the rightful winner had now been found.
