Anzac Day plot: Pair 'discussed kangaroo bomb plot'

The British boy allegedly discussed packing a kangaroo with explosives with an Australian teenager.

A 15-year-old British boy sentenced to life for his involvement in an Australia terror plot, discussed packing a kangaroo with explosives before setting it loose on police officers, a court has heard.

The boy, who plotted the attack when he was 14, allegedly discussed this with Australian teenager Sevdet Besim as the pair exchanged thousands of messages in a plot to behead police officers in Melbourne.

Besim, 19, now faces trial in Australia accused of planning a Islamic State (IS)-inspired terrorist attack at an Anzac Day ceremony last year.

According to court documents, prosecutors said Besim and the British youth discussed in online conversations that a kangaroo could be packed with explosives, painted with "the IS symbol" and set loose on police.

The pair allegedly discussed packing a kangaroo with explosives.

Besim was also accused of planning to use a car to run over, then behead a police officer.

He allegedly said in online communications he was "ready to fight these dogs on there (sic) doorstep".

"I'd love to take out some cops," Besim is said to have written. "I was gonna meet with them then take some heads."

Police allege he was motivated by an extremist ideology and had expressed support for terrorist organisations, particularly the IS movement.

Besim faces a potential life sentence if convicted. Four other alleged conspirators were arrested in Melbourne a week before Anzac Day.
