Heidi Loughlin: Cancer mum fears disease may have spread
Video report by ITV News reporter Faye Barker
A mum who delayed vital chemotherapy to give birth has been told the devastating news her cancer may have spread.
Heidi Loughlin, 33, was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was three months pregnant, but bravely refused to abort so she could undergo less aggressive treatment.
But she had to give birth early when the treatment failed and her daughter Ally Louise died aged just eight days old.
Now Heidi says had she known Ally was going to die she would have stayed pregnant.
She told ITV News: "The loss of Ally is by far the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. It's hard to put into words how devastating it is.
"If I'd have known that she would pass away, I would have stayed pregnant, I would have kept her in my tummy and I would have risked more for her."
Heidi, who also has two sons, Noah and Tait, has now been told the cancer may have spread to her lungs.
But the family must wait until she gets her test results back in March to find out for sure.
For now, Heidi says she refuses to give up hope.
