Two men arrested on suspicion of murder after homeless man found dead in burning tent
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a homeless man was found dead in a burning tent underneath a railway bridge.
Greater Manchester Police said that the two 24-year-old men from Manchester remain in police custody for questioning.
Daniel Smith, 23, who had been rough sleeping for a number of years, was discovered dead in Ordsall, Salford, Greater Manchester on Wednesday.
A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Smith, from Ashton-under-Lyne, died from multiple injuries.
Police were called to Irwell Street, close to Salford Central train station, at about 1.20am following reports that a tent under a railway bridge was on fire.
When Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire his body was discovered in the tent.
