Man United winger set for surgery for 'severe' injury

Ashley Young is to undergo surgery on a "severe" groin injury and will be out of action for "a long time", Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has told MUTV.

The winger, who has spent most of the season at full-back had to be taken off in his side's win over Liverpool last weekend.

It is unknown how long the former Aston Villa will be out for.
