Angie Bowie: 'I thought I would die before David'
David Bowie's ex-wife Angie has revealed she always thought she would die before him.
The 66-year-old, who was married to David for 10 years, was told the tragic news when she was in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
In her first interview since leaving the house on "medical grounds", she said she had no idea the music legend was ill.
She told ITV's Loose Women: "I don't think anyone did, but I have to say, I think he staged his passing rather well."
Angie had not spoken to her ex-husband for many years after they divorced in 1980.
But on hearing of his death, she said she "collapsed in bed".
"I just felt sick and I didn't know why. Then I thought, you've got a son together."
This is despite Angie and her son Zowie, who later changed his name to Duncan Jones, 44, having not seen each other since he was 14.
Speaking about why she never fought David for custody of their son, she explained: "I had Zowie for David and they were so close.
"What kind of person would I have been if I'd used my son as a weapon on my tool belt when we got divorced."
She added she did not think Bowie's death would change the situation between her and Duncan.
"It hurts me but when something hurts me I put it away in a little box in my head and forget about it."
