Renault recalls 15,000 cars to adjust emissions levels following raids
Renault is recalling more than 15,000 vehicles to make changes to their engines according to the French energy minister.
Segolene Royal told RTL radio the changes were to bring the cars into line with emission standards.
Renault's head office and two other sites were raided last week by anti-fraud investigators who were looking into its vehicle emissions technology. News of the raids temporarily wiped billions off the French car-maker's market value in an echo of the scandal engulfing German rival Volkswagen.
The minister, responsible for the environment and sustainable development, repeated today that Renault was not alone in exceeding emissions levels, although she did not name any other car-makers.
It is not yet clear whether any Renault vehicles are to be recalled outside of France.
