David Bowie 'secretly cremated in New York'

David Bowie has been secretly cremated in New York, according to reports.

The music legend apparently told his loved ones he wanted to "go without any fuss" and did not want a funeral or memorial service.

Bowie's publicist told ITV News he was not willing to confirm or deny the reports.

The star died on Sunday surrounded by friends and family after an 18-month battle with liver cancer.

He released his final album, Blackstar, on his 69th birthday, just two days before he passed away.

Bowie's longtime producer Tony Visconti revealed the singer was planning another album before his death and had prepared recordings of five songs.

Visconti said: "I thought, and he thought, that he'd have a few months left, at least, but he must have taken ill very quickly after the last time I spoke to him."

Bowie apparently told his loved ones he only wanted to be remembered for the good times he shared with them and the music he made.

But he will be honoured at a memorial concert at New York's Carnergie Hall on March 31.

His pals Mick Jagger and Paul McCartney are reportedly set to take to the stage alongside confirmed acts Cyndi Lauper, The Roots and Perry Farrell.
