Justin Bieber has bagged a record in UK pop history as he became the first person to hold the number one, two and three spots in the singles charts at the same time.

The Canadian singer held on to the top spot for a fifth week with his single Love Yourself, while his previous number one hits Sorry and What Do You Mean were in second and third place respectively, according to listings from the Official Charts Company.

It follows another record after eight of his singles entered the Top 40 when album Purpose was released in November - the most for any living artist.

His single What Do You Mean has also remained steadily in the Top five for over four months.

This week's chart listing also marked a posthumous coup for Motörhead singer Lemmy Kilmister, who died of cancer on 28 December 2015.

The band's iconic song Ace of Spades reached number 13 in the charts - two places ahead of its position when it was released in 1980.

Meanwhile, Adele's Hello took fifth place but her album 25 remained as the number one album for a seventh consecutive week.
