Amber rain warning remains in place for Scotland

A band of rain has swept northeastwards across the UK, the rain accompanied by some windy conditions too.

With cold air across Scotland, the rain has deposited some snow over the Grampians. Elsewhere, the rain has cleared to leave sunny spells and showers.

Through the rest of today, the rain will stall across north east Scotland, just where we don't need it. The Met Office has therefore kept an amber warning in force here, to be prepared for further flooding.

Rain, sleet and snow will persist across north east Scotland tonight. It will be mostly dry with clear spells elsewhere, with freezing temperatures and a risk of frost and ice.
