Crash driver tries to hide from police in nativity scene

A driver won’t be top of the list of wise men this Christmas after he tried to hide from police inside a nativity scene after he was involved in a car crash.

The Mini driver has prompted plenty of online hilarity after he tried to seek refuge in the manger scene set up inside a shed near the scene of the collision in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

His ploy failed, and he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, according to North Yorkshire Police.

The force posted a tweet highlighting his ill-considered attempt at camouflage, sparking a flurry of jokes from online commenters.

The driver, a 55-year-old man, has since been charged and is due to appear in court, according to local news reports.
