Donald Trump seems to be relishing the firestorm over his Muslim US ban call

The rhetoric was low key for Donald Trump but tonight was more about getting political business done than adding any further fuel to the firestorm he's already created this week.

Tonight Trump received the endorsement of the New England Police Union, the latest boost for his campaign as his poll numbers surge even in the wake of his incendiary comments about banning Muslims entering America.

Trump didn't mention the Muslim community by name when he spoke tonight but he said this week "he's got people talking" and it's clear that rather than walking back on anything he's said, he's relishing in the current controversy.

Tomorrow he's off to Iowa for a rally in another key early voting state trying to woo the electorate who'll decide whether his improbable dream to take the White House can be realised.
