U2 frontman Bono has paid tribute to the victims of the terror attacks in Paris and California, as the band performed in the French capital.

The names of the 130 people killed by extremists in Paris were projected on a huge video screen in the arena on Paris' east side, not far from the site of the killings on 13 November.

Bono wrapped himself in a French tricolor flag for the encore, in which he sang a verse from crooner Jacques Brel's Ne Me quitte Pas - Don't Leave Me.

"We stand together with the families of those killed in Paris. We stand together with the families of those killed in San Bernardino," he said.

The attack in San Bernardino by husband and wife Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik leaving 14 people dead is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
