Ed Sheeran takes top spot from Eminem to become Spotify's most streamed artist
Ed Sheeran has knocked Eminem off the top spot to become Spotify’s most streamed artist.
The 24-year-old's music has notched up more than three billion plays and more than 59 million listeners since the service started in 2008.
Rapper Eminem drops to the second spot and Drake, David Guetta and Rihanna make up the top five most played artists of all time on Spotify.
Ed Sheeran, from Suffolk, is also the most streamed artist in the UK this year, but lost the title of the year’s most streamed artist to Canadian rapper Drake, who accrued more than 1.8 billion streams and 46 million listeners over the past 12 months.
