Thousands of shoes fill Paris square in protest at climate change demo ban

Thousands of pairs of shoes have been placed in Paris's Place de la Republique in protest after a climate change march was cancelled in the wake of the terror attacks.

The installation, made up of shoes donated by Parisians, was organised by activist group Avaaz to reflect the steps marchers have been prevented from taking after police cancelled the march.

Campaigners had planned to march in the city ahead of a UN summitwhich is due to start in the city on Monday.

But French authorities have clamped down on demonstrations amid tight security in the wake of the terror attacks on the city.
