Original cast members James Nesbitt, Fay Ripley, John Thomson, Hermione Norris and Robert Bathurst will reunite with writer Mike Bullen to pick up the group's story as they approach 50.

More than 10 million people tuned in for the finale in 2003 which featured the funeral of character Rachel, played by Helen Baxendale.

But what have they been up to since then?

Nesbitt has enjoyed a glittering career since Cold Feet ended, securing numerous roles in TV shows and mini-series before moving on to Hollywood.

He played Tommy Murphy in long-running show Murphy's Law between 2003 and 2007, was Pilate in mini-series The Passion in 2008, and played Tony Hughes in 2014's The Missing.

His film credits include The Hobbit trilogy, in which he played one of the Dwarves who recruit Bilbo Baggins to help them reclaim the Lonely Mountain.

Next year, he is due to take up a starring role in Stan Lee's Lucky Man, as a detective with the power to control luck.

Ripley has continued to feature heavily in TV series, including spots in children's series Meg and Mog and Fungus the Bogeyman.

She took up roles in Green-Eyed Monster, I Saw You, The Stretford Wives, and Dead Gorgeous, before taking a break following the birth of her second child.

Other roles include recurring characters in Monday Monday, Reggie Perrin and The Delivery Man, as well as a role as Cabinet Secretary in Rory Bremner's Election Report earlier this year.

Most recently, she had been the voice of reality TV contest Burger Bar to Gourmet Star.

A hard-working TV actor, Thomson has appeared in scores of shows throughout the years.

After a brief appearance on Coronation Street in 1990, Thomson returned to the cobbles in 2008 as Jesse Chadwick, where he set up residence for two years.

Other recurring roles include his stint as Nelson on Waterloo Road, Nigel Pearson in Kingdom, and Nigel Lord in The Mimic.

A long-time regular on the Fast Show, Thomson returned to play various roles for last year's special, with bit parts on Casualty, The Job Lot and Sooty, among others.

He did also take a bash at the big screen, taking up a role in Inkheart, also starring Brendan Fraser, in 2008 and voicing Mr Windfall in Wallace and Gromit's The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

  • Hermione Norris - Karen Marsden

Norris has established herself with numerous recurring roles in the years since she hung up her hat as Karen Marsden.

She played DCI Carol Jordan in Wire in the Blood for 14 episodes, and joined fellow ex-Cold Feet star John Thomson in Kingdom, in which she played Beatrice Kingdom.

MI-5, Bouquet of Barbed Wire, The Crimson Field and Outcasts were also among her TV homes for a while, with a single-episode appearance in Doctor Who last year as Lundvik.

  • Robert Bathurst - David Marsden

After Cold Feet, Bathurst immediately immersed himself in another starring role as the title character in My Dad's the Prime Minister.

After that, things relatively slowed down with the odd bit part taking up his time.

It was not until he secured a nine-episode role in The Pillars of Earth in 2010 that the chunkier jobs really started to roll in again, and he went on to appear as Sir Anthony Strallen in Downton Abbey; Lord Thomas Davenport in Dracula; and recently as Ed Howzer-Black in Toast of London.

He has also had an extensive career on-stage.

  • Helen Baxendale - Rachel Bradley

Seeing as Cold Feet ended with the funeral of her character, Rachel, it would have been unlikely to see her in the revived series.

But she hasn't been sitting on her laurels - after a short break following 2003, Baxendale has appeared in a number of TV series including Inspector Lewis, Agatha Christie's Marpe and Dirk Gently.

She had a recurring role as Angela Beddoes in 2011/12 show Kidnap and Ransom, and played well-meaning mother Lorna Thompson in Cuckoo.
