Russia provisionally banned from international athletics
Russia's athletics federation has been provisionally suspended from competition following revelations of widespread, state-sponsored doping.
The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) council voted 22-1 in favour of the sanction.
The decision came after the IAAF held a teleconference, hosted by president Sebastian Coe, to discuss the report released on Monday by the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which recommended the punishment.
Lord Coe said he was "angry" but added that he "won't fail" to clean up the sport following revelations of "state-sponsored" Russian doping.
He said that the IAAF had commissioned two forensic accountants from Deloitte and a legal team from international law firm Freshfields.
Russia's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said the suspension was "temporary" and the "problem is solvable".
