Corrie's Vera Duckworth makes a Christmas cameo in Emmerdale

Former Corrie actress Liz Dawn is coming out of retirement to make a Christmas Day cameo in Emmerdale.

Liz, who played Vera Duckworth on the cobbles for over 30 years, will play demanding Mrs Winterbottom, a guest staying at Eric Pollard's B&B.

She said she was persuaded to do the role as she recently celebrated her 76th birthday and wanted to "mark the occasion".

"I love my character. What a feisty lady she is. Giving them all a run for their money in the B&B on Christmas Day. She's so rude to them, which isn't like me at all."

Liz added the Emmerdale cast and crew had been "so lovely" and she was pleased to be reunited with ex-Corrie director Tony Prescott.

"I've worked with him over many years at Corrie and he’s a lovely man, really good at what he does and very creative.

"I'll be looking forward to seeing my scene on Christmas Day and introducing you all to Mrs Winterbottom."
